There is no community or municipal water system.
Subsurface water is heavily mineralized. Most residents use
water filtration of some kind, mostly to reduce hardness, but
also to eliminate iron.

- Mail: USPS, UPS, FedEx & On-Trac deliver to the VCH. If you
want to receive regular mail and did not already have access
to a mailbox** located in the Mail Sheds on Cartwright, you'll
need to either get a P.O. Box at the Virginia City Post Office
or secure a mailbox in the mail sheds. If you choose to
secure a mailbox, you'll need to complete the transaction at
the Steamboat Station Post Office which is located in South
Reno.
*As of November 2019, AT&T is the only provider with equipment on
the VCH Monopine ( aka Cell Tower ). Currently, only AT&T subscribers
have noticed either an increase in existing coverage or coverage where
none existed. Verizon seems to be second in terms of coverage in the
VCH but it is extremely limited.

**Any certified mail, deliveries that require a signature or packages too
large to fit in the parcel lockers will have to be picked up from the
Steamboat Station Post Office in South Reno.
